Ed Wintner

Ed Wintner is a New England-based landscape artist painting traditional motifs with a crisp, modern style.  His varied influences include Japanese block prints, 1920’s tourism posters, and the American landscape painters of the Hudson River School.“I approach landscapes with the idea that three-dimensional space can be created through simple color gradations whose boundaries define sharp contours and silhouettes.  In particular, I try to let the silhouettes of rocks, trees, and water provide an interplay of positive and negative space, creating depth both through relation to each other and to the contours of the landscape.”
