Friday Painters offers the opportunity for artists of differing experience to paint, photograph, or draw together on location from 9am to noon with a friendly critique to conclude the session. All are welcome. Bring your own art supplies please! Weather permitting.

This is a free community service sponsored by ArtWorks and the MWVArts. Facilitated by JP Goodwin.

Outdoor Photographer Jane Kelley is Featured Artist at ArtWorks

Chocorua Creative Arts Center’s ArtWorks Gallery will feature Jane Kelley as the featured artist for the June First Friday Art Night on June 3 from 5-7 pm at 132 Route 16, Chocorua, NH.

Jane Kelley is an amazing photographer who captures the most brilliant light in her work. It must be seen in person to be truly appreciated. She will be on hand to meet and discuss her work with each of you while you partake of refreshments and libations. So drop in for a bit, meet the artists and network with friends…it’s fun.

Her photographic subjects vary widely, including landscapes, night photography (Northern Lights at Lake Chocorua), wildlife, including moose, loons and snowy owls, abstract, and macro photography. She also works in photo encaustics. This is an archival method using melted beeswax and pigment layered over her original photos creating a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art.

Jane Kelley was born in Wolfeboro; raised in Texas. Once again a Wolfeboro resident, she is rediscovering the beauty of New England with her camera and enjoying sharing that beauty with folks near and far.

She explains “Through my lens, I hope to bring awareness, not only to the beauty of our state, but to wildlife conservation efforts and the fragility of our ecosystems. Respecting wildlife, and keeping our environment clean, are but a few of the steps necessary to preserve the beauty and ensure the proliferation of our wildlife and lands, so that they may be enjoyed by generations to come.”

Jane has exhibited her juried work in three galleries in Texas, and currently, ArtWorks Gallery in Chocorua, NH and the Kalled Gallery in Wolfeboro, NH. She has also participated in smaller non-juried venues in both Texas and NH, two solo shows in the Wolfeboro area, and has juried monthly club competitions for the North Conway Camera Club.

ArtWorks Gallery & Fine Crafts is open Friday to Monday, 10-5 pm and First Friday Art Nights from noon to 7 pm. After June 17, open everyday except closed Tuesdays. Our creative workshop schedule is out and sign ups are brisk so grab a handout, call at 603-323-8041 or go to for more information on how to learn fused glass, drawing with color pencils, photography, knitting and painting.

Friday Painters Group, a co-operative offering begun by members of the MWVArts and now partners with ArtWorks meets each week throughout the season en plein air at scheduled locations around the Valley and beyond. All masked are welcome to participate or observe. Those partaking must bring their own supplies. This is a free art experience. Schedules are available at ArtWorks or on the website.

The Friday Painter’s Group which paints en plein air each week around the Valley and beyond, was begun by Nan White and friends in the 1970s. It became an arm of the MWVArts way back and is now sponsored by them and ArtWorks jointly, a free community experience to promote the arts. Public and private venues are open to us by supporters of both entities throughout the season, from May through October.

All are welcome with their own supplies to join us in interpreting our spectacular surroundings, share ideas and critiques. We have artists who work in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, graphite, 3D and photography inspired our the great out doors.

Schedules are available on websites of both arts organizations and at their galleries, MWVArts at Norcross Place in North Conway and ArtWorks Gallery on Rt. 16 in Chocorua Village.
